Tarkio vs Maryville

Well there is not much to say about this game.  We started off really well, scoring the first 6 points of the game.  Then maryville decided to score the next 47 points of the game.  When their third stringers got in the game we scored the last bucket of the game, making the final score 47 - 8.  When we scored the first six points, I got my hopes up because maryville was a rivalry game in high school when i played at savannah.  Maybe another season.

Tarkio vs Rockport 2

We lost the first game against rockport by a large margin.  We played considerably better this game than the first.  We ended up losing the second game by 8 points.  We have one more game against rockport hopefully we will do even better the next game.

Senior Night

            I forgot to talk about senior night, so I figured better late than never.  Senior night went smooth and we won rather handily.  That game took me back to my senior night.  It brought back a lot of memories and it felt good to think about those times again.  Above is a picture from my senior night.

Tarkio vs Nodoway Holt

This is the championship game for the Nodoway Holt tournament.  We came out and did really well.  We got their best player in foul trouble early in the second quarter.  We were up by 8 going into the fourth quarter.  Then their best player came out and we ended up losing by 10 points.  I guess on the positive side we took second plae in a tournament when I was told that we wouldnt win more than one game.

Tarkio vs Craig/Fairfax

This was an eventful pre-game.  My parents came to this game.  I told the kids to go to the locker room and I would come and talk to them in two minutes and not to do anything stupid.  I watch them walk into the locker room and not more than thirty seconds go by I see two kids come out and yell for me.  I run over to see what they need.  When i get into the locker room one of the players pushed another player into a locker and he sliced his ear open.  So i had to play doctor and babysitter before the game.  Great, Im probably going to get into trouble for this.  And oh yeah, I forgot, we lost by one point.

Tarkio vs West Nodoway

Again another loss.  They were really good, but I feel like we could have beat them.  We did not show up to play the game at all.  I wish there was a way that they could have the same motivation and drive that i do.

Tarkio vs Rockport

We just go beat at Rockport.  It wasn't even a close game.  We lost by 30 something points.  They were really good, and we just aren't that good.

Playoffs

We lost our playoff game against Worth County.  It was a close game in the first half.  Going into halftime we were only down by 14, and were actually ahead at the end of the first quarter.  We came out at the beginning of the second half and they scored a quick touchdown.  After that it seemed that the kids just didn't want to play anymore.  We ended up losing by 30 something points.  It was not a very good second half.

Playoffs

Varsity football made it to playoffs.  We took second in our district.  Our first playoff game is against Worth County tonight.  We played them in the very first game of the season and lost, but we our a different team now.  We completely changed our offense and defense.  We spent eight hours on Sunday breaking down film and getting ready for the game.  I hope we show up to play.

basketball

The junior high boys basketball team is now four and two.  We took second place in the Nodoway Holt tournament and we have our seventh game on Monday against Craig-Fairfax.  I like basketball more than i thought i would, still have a lot to learn, but still having fun.

Basketball

Junior high basketball practice started today.  It is going to be rough, 6:00 a.m. junior high basketball practice, and 3:00 p.m. varsity football practice.  2 hours of driving a day for a month and a half, awesome.

Junior high/jv football

I also coach junior high and junior varsity football as well.  our junior high record is 1-3, and our jv record is 1-2.  Each team has 1 more game left to play.

win streak

We are currently on a 4 game win streak which makes our record 4-2. 

Second game

Our second game was against the number 2 team in the state at the time, again we lost.  Did better though we were only losing by two until the fourth quarter, we never gave up.

First game

Our first game was against the number 1 team in the state at the time, we lost pretty bad.  I got to call the defense though, and it was a good learning experience.

Coaching

I am connected to my subject because that is the profession that i want to go into.  I got interested in this profession because i played sports from kindergarten through my senior year in high school.  My coach's were always an influence on me, and i just wanted to be like that for someone else.  I have been coaching for three years now.  My first two years i coached football at Truman State University.  Now I coach football, basketball, and track at Tarkio high school.
